Insight on Narendra Modi’s National Education Policy for India

Modi’s government comes up with the National Education Policy that is considered to be a game-changer. On 6th August, Prime Minister Modi in his address disclosed the latest education policy in his address to heads of higher education institutes. This is, by the way, the third policy since independence.
He said that this policy is the result of the efforts of education experts and specialists. They work for around 3-4 years in the development of these educational reforms. Many educational experts and specialists examine this new policy with every angle.

The policy is mostly accepted by all the people around the country. Moreover, people are having healthy debates on the pros and cons of the policy. However, Modi calls it better for the implementation of the policy. According to him, this debate will help common Indians to understand the NEP. He also said that no one suggests that the policy is biased.

NEP will Change India:

The people of India want the change in the old and substandard education system. He said the new policy is in line with the desires of people. People are curious about how the government will convert this such a huge plan into action. He asked the heads that we together must have to plan and remove hurdles for implementation. He also added that ‘every country progress by doing reforms according to their national values, goals, and culture.
The goal of education policy is to keep their incoming generations ready for the future and its challenges. New NEP is in line with this objective.
Modi in his address also said that the students will learn new skills that are relevant to the rapidly changing world and its challenges. This will enable them to take part constructively in the progress of India.
The new education policy will promote curiosity and imagination. Previously the education is based on herd mentality. The students at an early age want to become a pilot or doctor and converted to engineers later. Many times parents decide the profession of their children.
Modi ensured the educationalists to provide a full political will for this cause. The education specialists with politicians will work together to implement educational reforms all over the country.

Features of National Education Policy:

The new National Education Policy will provide freedom to students to follow their passions with full independence. The undergraduate can leave any higher education program before completing if that student considers it irrelevant to the desired job. The student can leave the program anytime in-between with appropriate qualifications. According to the policy, the student will get a certificate after the first year, a diploma after the second year, a degree after the third year, and a degree with research after the completion of the fourth year.
The policy will also promote the use of mother language in the early stages of education. The new policy will prefer to teach students in their languages till class 5. A solid understanding of basics can help brighten the future of students.

Way Forward:

The new National Education Policy is a big step forward to promote an understanding of subjects. This will make students more creative and this will help more ideas to flourish. The new policy will help entrepreneurs to work on ideas in every field regardless of fear of having a relevant educational degree. This is a huge achievement for a country like India with a population of over a billion and a 74% literacy rate. We look forward to the implementation of this policy.
