Istanbul Tehran Islamabad Cargo Train is expected to start its operations in the coming weeks. In the recent meeting of transport and communication ministers of all the three countries in Istanbul, the 10th edition of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) concluded. The cargo train which was suspended earlier will resume its operations after the fulfillment of key requirements. 

This cargo train was 56 years old dream which is now about to come true. Pakistan-Iran-Turkey in 1964 first envisaged this trade route at the forum of Regional Cooperation for Development (RCD). That vision is now getting reality by the present government in Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey.

This Istanbul Tehran Islamabad Cargo Train is about to start its services and operations soon. The train will cover 6543 km of the journey in just 11 days. The export goods of Pakistan can be delivered to Turkey in just 11 days. Reaching Turkey means reaching Europe in just 11 days which previously took 45 days via sea. 

After incentivizing the textile industry, which is now running at full capacity, this step by the government will really help to grow exports. Taking so much less time in delivery will automatically increase demand for Pakistani textiles. This is because Indian and Bangladeshi products will almost one month away from the destinations. So the Pakistani export industry will grow for sure.

Future of Istanbul Tehran Islamabad Cargo Train

In the next stages, it is planned to enhance this trade route to Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakistan, Kirghistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. In this way, the trade route among the three countries will be expanded to 10 countries of the region. Moreover, it is planned not to bound this cooperation to train only, but road infrastructure is also part of this route.    

Pakistan is now focusing on its exports and economy after badly hit by terrorism. Pakistan will soon come out with better exports and greater connectivity to various markets in the region. Istanbul Tehran Islamabad Cargo Train will play a big role in this achievement.
